Integrated PET/MR in Oncology
نویسندگان
چکیده
Integrated PET/MR is a newly available imaging technique that includes a simultaneous whole body MR and PET examination Integrated PET/MR avoids co-registration errors in image reconstruction due to differences in patient positioning and has potential for MRI based motion correction to improve registration in the upper abdomen PET/MR is most likely to be advantageous for cancers that are now imaged with both PET/CT and MRI and in pediatric patients If indicated, a focused regional MR examination can be added to the PET/MR protocol

Recent Advances in PET-MR Hybrid contrast agent
Introduction: All of the Imaging modalities have advantages and disadvantages alone. So if we want to have the best and perfect image, combining these modalities produces something we desired. PET-MR images consist of morphologic and metabolic data. MRI and PET provide high spatial and contrast resolution and high sensitivity and molecular information respectively. Hybrid PET-...
متن کاملPET/MR in oncology: an introduction with focus on MR and future perspectives for hybrid imaging.
After more than 20 years of research, a fully integrated PET/MR scanner was launched in 2010 enabling simultaneous acquisition of PET and MR imaging. Currently, no clinical indication for combined PET/MR has been established, however the expectations are high. In this paper we will discuss some of the challenges inherent in this new technology, but focus on potential applications for simultaneo...
متن کاملFirst clinical experience with integrated whole-body PET/MR: comparison to PET/CT in patients with oncologic diagnoses.
UNLABELLED The recently introduced first integrated whole-body PET/MR scanner allows simultaneous acquisition of PET and MRI data in humans and, thus, may offer new opportunities, particularly regarding diagnostics in oncology. This scanner features major technologic differences from conventional PET/CT devices, including the replacement of photomultipliers with avalanche photodiodes and the ne...
متن کاملClinical Experience in Body MR-PET
Initiated by the success story of hybrid imaging with the combination of positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) in PET/CT, integrated whole-body positron emission tomography (PET) / magnetic resonance (MR) scanners have recently been introduced and potentially offer new possibilities in hybrid imaging especially of oncologic patients. Such an integrated MR/PET system co...
متن کاملPET/MR imaging: current status and future direction
PET/CT has emerged as an important tool in oncology to detect, characterize, and follow-up various tumor entities. The integrated technology includes the respective advantageousness of PET and CT in a synergistic manner combining high sensitivity of PET with transmission correction and anatomic referencing by CT. PET/CT has been proven to be fast, robust and meanwhile widely available in oncolo...
